The Adventurers - Acrylic on Board £1500.00

Trevor he is a regular Exhibitor and one of our favourites.
His very imaginative and distinctive work has found a way into many people’s homes both here and overseas. His work is always about the happiness we as humans are capable of when we relax with friends and loved ones.
We are depicted luxuriating in the shower, gossiping with friends over coffee, lovers asleep or entwined in bed with views of familiar looking beaches. Many of his works depict other intimate moments, some are shown sitting at opposite ends of the bed reading, two more float away in a bed bedecked with balloons and yet another pair enjoy a rain dance. The joy he expresses through his work - that is the only way I can think of describing it - makes me smile when I see yet another situation which could ring true to any one of us.
In one of his works he depicts “Adam and Eve” in the jungle with all the beasts around him – maybe his homage to Rousseau whose paintings he admires - as he does Ben Nicholson, a painter who helped form the Newlyn Group long ago in St Ives.- knowing these points gives an added perspective when viewing Trevor’s work. However his dry point etchings belong in a different world from theirs, his belong firmly in showing us the human condition in all its quirkiness.
Another titled “The Adventurers” is of a raft – with pairs of tigers, elephants and giraffes on board - in their midst stand Mr and Mrs Noah in a calmer sea than that depicted in the bible story.
The raft, lit at each corner by candles is sailing along with many coloured balloons tied all around it - will shortly I feel - sail into the sunset sky.
Trevor loves to show harmony and fun in so many ways. Whoever thought you could see a pair of lovers at sunset in a lovely little wooden boat - lit by lanterns and with flying fish rising from the sea to inspect them? I think “Originality” is Trevor Price’s middle name.
He is a son of Cornwall with a studio in both St Ives and until recently one in London. As well as being an artist of note he is acknowledged as a master printer by many in his field and has carried out work for many other well known artists. His hand coloured dry point etchings are recognised not only for his subject matter, which is instantly recognisable, but also by others in the profession as being “of the best”.
He exhibits widely throughout Europe and regularly holds solo exhibitions of his paintings as well as original prints. His work is held in numerous collections including the Bank of England, Yale University U.S.A and P&O.
Trevor has won several national printmaking awards, and is an active member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers. He has also on several occasions been an invited selector for the National Printmaking Exhibition held at the Mall Galleries in London.
