| | Steven was born in Minnesota and spent his formative years among the boreal forests, rivers and lakes surrounding Lake Superior and the northern shores of Lake Michigan. It was here he gained his love of Landscape and Nature. In 1970, he came to England to attend the Heatherely School of Fine Art to improve what was then a hobby. In the late 70's, he returned twice to Minnesota and worked for the Bajus-Jones Animation Studio, first as a cel-painter and special inker and painter and later also as their main background and airbrush artist. Upon his return to London, he was trained in gilding, with a view to applying this to both the framing and painting fields. Steven moved to Cornwall in 1981 and since then has painted full-time. His work can be found in galleries throughout the Southwest. From 1987, he has been regularly accepted into the exhibitions of the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries in London, where in 1999, he received 'The St. Cuthbert's Mill Award' for best work on paper. |
