Mike was born in 1957, Kent. He gained a BA (Hons) Fine Art, West Surrey College of Art in 1978 followed by an MA Painting, Royal Academy Schools, London.
In 1997 he was Elected as a Member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours
Until 2000 he undertook several teaching posts.

He has exhibited his work widely in the UK, including the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Annual Exhibition, Mall Galleries, London and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts, London .
He has also won numerous awards and prizes at both the Royal Academy of Arts and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and has had articles published in The Artist and Leisure Painter.
