This was followed by a Diploma in Art & Design at Maidstone College of Art, where she studied under Graham Clarke. After a short time working in London Jessica came to Cornwall in 1975 to recuperate after a knee operation. It was her first visit and she fell in love with Cornwall and decided to stay. She has been working as a designer, illustrator and painter since that time, now concentrating almost wholly on painting. Her work is mainly in watercolour, depicting scenes of Cornish life, sometimes with a touch of the whimsical. Her paintings reflect the changing atmosphere of Cornwall.... a dazzlingly white cottage silhouetted against a bright cerulean sky.... a wind lashed harbour battered by the high tide.... Recent work includes a collection of spontaneous paintings, in mixed media. |
