He is inspired by the classicism of antiquity, African and Tribal art his work is unmistakably contemporary. He makes moulds from fragments of patterns and textures which he picks up from his surroundings. These are then reformed in clay and from which the larger slabs are built. There are over 1000 mould in his library, so no two pieces are ever the same. Alasdair is a Professional Member of the Craft Potters Association and has exhibited his work widely in the UK, Europe and America. Work is represented in public collections in the UK and in private collections in Australia, Europe, Japan, Taiwan and the USA. |
